So often we equate leadership with loudness – who is speaking up above the others, who has the microphone, or who is center stage booming their voice over the crowd.
But, the truth is, just because we often think of leaders as outgoing extroverts, that doesn’t mean that quieter people can’t (and don’t) lead just as well. In fact, some studies show that quieter leaders have strengths that can make them even better leaders.
So, we should start by simply checking our assumptions around who could and would make a good leader. Let’s open up opportunities for those who aren’t normally considered as having leadership potential. And let’s start to see the leader inside all of us – even if we’re not the loudest in the room.
